Sudre and Kusti

NauJote
- Naujote is an initiation ceremony, which emits boys and girls into the religion
- It is performed when both boys and girls turn seven or nine years of age
- The boy or girl is given a sacred bath and wears a sudre and kusti prior to the ceremony to symbolize the beginning of their journey towards the righteous path of God
Ahuna Vairya Mantra
- The chanting of the 'Ahuna Vairya' mantra is considered to be very sacred in Zoroastrianism.
- According to beliefs, Ahura Mazda uttered this mantra at the beginning of the creation of the world.
- He also used it to drive away Angra Mainyu when he tried to invade his kingdom.
- The significance of this mantra is that the chanting of it is considered to be equivalent to chanting all of the sacred texts.
- By chanting the Ahuna Vairya mantra, the Zoroastrians (Parsis) believe that one can drive away all evil forces.
The Three Commandments
- According to Zoroastrianism, the three commandments are Humata (good thoughts), Hukhta (good words), and Havarshta (good deeds)
- It is believed that they enhance and increase the power of good forces in the world
- It is also believed that they weaken down the likelihood of the arrival of evil forces
- The practice of reciting those commandments is included in many Zoroastrian prayers and rituals
